News: Website Migration

December 29, 2010 Leave a comment Go to comments

Hi! I hope that everyone is still enjoying their holidays!

We’re on Christmas break and have decided to take the time migrate to a new host so we can have some more customization for our blog! It’ll also be nice to not have to worry about using up all our Photobucket bandwidth every month. ^^;

I mostly just want to make this post to let you guys know that some of the newer comments might not make it over to our new blog. Still feel free to make comments on this blog though! We are aiming to have the new site up by the end of the year and have some cool stuff planned.

Thank you very much to all our visitors, commenters and subscribers for all your support and interest so far. Hopefully my next post will be of the new website details!

Because I don’t like to post without photos, have a random photo of Miku that I took a couple of weeks ago! ๐Ÿ˜€

    What’s the new host? What’ll it be called? Is there a link?

      We’re still be using the WordPress platform and our new host is called Godaddy. I’ll post with more info then set up a redirect when we get it functional and are ready to make the switch.

      The URL is plasticparfait.com.. it’s actually live and you can check it out if you want but it’s under very heavy construction, sorta ugly, full of bugs and will probably look different when we’re done which is why I didn’t provide a link in my post. xD

    Ooo, a host migration? I’ve considered doing that many times before but chickened out every time. I figured I was fine for the time being, as the pictures are being hosted on paid Flickr. I hope the process goes smoothly for you! =D

      Thank you, Chag! WordPress.com is good but it’s great to have full control over our site now. I’m lucky that Luth does this kinda stuff for a living so it’s made it a whole lot easier.. I have to admit I’d be much too chicken to attempt a move by myself.

      Goodluck to you if you decide to make the move in the future although what you’re doing at the moment seems to be working well, your site is wonderful. ๐Ÿ˜€

    WAAAIT question why do you need a host for pictures? Why not just store them on you computer? ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

      We could, but then we would need to leave the computer on 24/7 so you could grab images off it ๐Ÿ˜‰

    Grats on new host! Considering a Flickr Pro Account for Unlimited Photo Storage?

    • December 29, 2010 at 2:07 pm

      Thanks! Our hosting provider gives us 10gb of storage so it should be good for awhile, plus its easy to upload images from WordPress directly to the server. The Unlimited Flickr Pro does sound tempting for off-site storage of all my high-res originals though…

    wow, looking forward to see your new home. =D grats and happy new year to both of you.

      Thanks! Its nice not having to stick with a default blog theme and really be able to decorate our home the way we want it. Happy New Year to you guys as well!
